Welcome to Mulberry Middle School
Hello, my name is Deblyn Smith. I teach Career Research and Decision Making for grade levels 6th - 8th for the Electives Team. I received all three of my degrees from NSU. a Bachelor of Arts in 1995 in Elementary Education , Master of Science in 2003 for Educational Leadership and a Master of Science in 2011 for School Guidance and Counseling . I started at MMS 8 years ago and before that taught at Bartow Middle School or 10 years.
My goal is to give my students the skills they will need to be successful in school and throughout life. Career Research and Decision Making is a lifelong process that includes, exploring, choosing and implementing decisions about education, occupation, and related life roles. Students will develop knowledge and skills that will help them to manage their career throughout life.
Students are not issued textbooks , but are responsible for maintaining a research folder that should contain the following information: Welcome Letter ,Class Rules and Expectations , Course Syllabus, Thinking Maps/Graphic Organizer, Guides, and Student Structured notes. Each student is responsible for having all appropriate materials such as an Agenda, Research folder( any color) , paper, and pencils on a daily basis.
