Welcome Letter- Career Research & Decision Making
Dear Parent or Guardian,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this year. I love teaching 6th -8th grade Career s because I care deeply about each of my students. I believe students can grow and develop by examining the important issues we will cover in class. Goals of my course include Career Research and Decision Making is a lifelong process that includes, exploring, choosing, and implementing decisions about education, occupation, and related life roles. Students will develop Knowledge and skills that will help them to manage their career throughout life. In this course students will learn how to become Financially Literate. Personal Finance is a class that is taught at high school level that I am having the opportunity to teach this content to students at the middle school level! In this particular course students will learn how about Savings, Investment Options Wealth Building and College Savings, Dangers of Debt, Consumer Awareness, Credit Bureaus and Collection Practices, Budgeting 101, Bargain Shopping, Relating with Money, Career Choices and Employment, and Finally, the Ins and Outs of Insurance...
We are also going to have the opportunity to be using various on-line resources that correspond to our curriculum. Students will also have several opportunities to listen and learn from a variety of Guest Speakers that will visit our classroom on a weekly basis here at Mulberry Middle School.
Additional information about the curriculum is provided in the Course Syllabus. Students will need to return the bottom portion of the class contract to indicate your understanding and support of the classroom system. There is also space provided for you to express any questions, concerns or comments. Students should return that portion to me.
